Where to start? Well first, thanks for stopping in and taking the time to read! It truly means the world to me and I hope the content that you find here encourages and inspires. As seasons of life have changed, so too this blog has evolved in content multiple times over the years.
Here you’ll find a healthy does of natural living ideas, our favorite recipes, our (long, still in process) adoption story, and most encompassing, our journey into homeschooling our 4 children.
I really don’t remember the beginning of our homeschool story.
Technically it started 8 years ago, when I loaded up on workbooks and primary-colored classroom decorations from the dollar store, mistakenly thinking that homeschooling meant “school at home”.
Fast forward, and now school looks like classic books strewn across the house and tucked in corners, as much snuggling on the couch as we can arrange, embarrassingly high library fines, watercolor narrations of our latest novel, and notebooks filled with history timelines and science diagrams. “School” has changed dramatically for us over the years, but honestly, the biggest shift came when I discovered the writings and teaching methods of Charlotte Mason. Implementing her methods have brought a stability and peace to our school life, and introduced us to a way of learning that has completely changed the culture of our home.
Education has become an atmosphere and learning has become our story.
We’ve rediscovered the joy of learning for the sake of beauty and truth.
I promise, it really is possible to have a peace-filled, joyful school day that doesn’t end in tears (yours or theirs!) It doesn’t mean that every day flows seamlessly, but I can now teach my children confidently, without second-guessing, and when life happens and we deviate from the ideal, there’s a sure anchor to fall back on.
This blog is a chronicle of sorts – our family’s journey to healthy living, our favorite recipes, our home school resources and recommendations, celebrating the Biblical Feasts and so much more.
Thanks for stopping in and joining us on this journey, as our family explores “vintage” truths and ways of life in the midst of living fully in a modern world.
