My Faith Will Be My Sight - A Story and A Giveaway :: Vintage Kids | Modern World

We are currently raising funds to adopt a little boy

our little boy.

This has been a tortuously long road, as many of you who have walked this path surely know.  If it were up to me, he would have been in my arms yesterday.

Plugging away, day after day, and going on with life, listening to my children talk about their “new brother” –  all the while knowing that he’s out there somewhere makes every day and every week without him feel like an eternity. At this moment, there is nothing to see in front of me, and the only way I can keep pressing on is to go back to what I know- and to rely on my Faith to be my sight.

That’s when I created this piece – the one you see in the picture above.

I’m in love with its simplicity.

The pendent is a brushed bronze color and inside is a tiny mustard seed.  The idea for this was taken from Matthew 17:20

He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

As I made this, I thought about adding some pattern or floral print behind that tiny mustard seed to give it a pop of color. Something to sprice it up a bit and make it eye-catching.

But I just couldn’t do it.

Real faith, as small as it may be some days, (or some seasons!) isn’t flowery or colorful.  It’s not flashy – and it’s definitely not trendy.  It’s almost imperceptible at times, and it’s most obvious in the empty, dark, hollow place.

When there is nothing else left and nothing to prop it up….that’s when you see real faith.

It’s simple and unassuming, yet it can move mountains.

And today, I want to give away two of these necklaces – as an encouragement to those of you that need to hold on to Hope and Faith in the darkness!  I hope this tangible reminder brings you peace and draws you closer to the Giver of Faith!

Two readers will be chosen at the end of this giveaway, on 4/14/14 at 12am .

The pendent is a deep antiqued/rubbed copper color and it is approximately 1″ in diameter and it will come to you on a matching 20″ chain.

In the mean time, come on over and check out the rest of our store!

From now until next Monday, (4/14/14), you can purchase the “Only Faith” necklace – or any item in our store – for 10% off with the coupon code “onlyfaith”!

it is beautiful to read your story and to see your heart through your posts! I stumbled upon your blog looking for homeschooling spaces ideas and was drawn to your adoption notices. We have a huge heart for adoption and Ethiopia. We have been yearning and waiting to bring our girl home from there since 2009! Our adoption agency recently closed their program in Ethiopia. My heart has been broken but I know that our God is good and He always has a perfect plan! We are waiting to see what that means for our family. In the meantime, before we knew the doors were closed (for right now it seems) God gave us a surprise little biological child. Similar to your story! How sweet that even though we don’t have our daughter, my arms are not empty! I pray blessings over you with your new little one(although your post was some time ago) and over your adoption! Your faith necklace is incredible! With Him, all things are possible and where there seems like there is no way….He makes a way!
